The spin cycle of deflected blame, Courtesy of the pants-pissing GOP & Co.

I'm dizzy. Trying to keep track of all the spinning the GOP and its MSM affiliates is becoming nearly impossible. We all knew it was inevitable that the right would try to "skew" the Foley scandal to try to make it look less damning. Here are the pathetic and grotesquely LOW attempts to do so:

From Crooks And Liars:

See anything wrong with this graphic? The O'Reilly Factor ran it in not one, but two segments and posted it three times. I can understand if FOX and The Factor made an error the first time, but to post it repeatedly should be a firing offense, The most watched show on FOX News has now labeled the former Republican Congressman Mark Foley, who is in the middle of a sexual predator scandal that has Hastert's career on the ropes —a Democrat. Was it an error or done by choice? I report–you decide.

Un-fucking-believable. Shill O'Lielly is such a sneaky scumbag.

Then there was Hannity, claiming Monica Lewinsky was 19 when she had her affair with Clinton, which isn't true (she was 22 and a college grad). I'm sure there won't be a correction for that on FauxNews either.

Now there are rightwing Christofundy whackos trying to equate pedophilia with homosexuality so they can revile gay people even more than they already do.

Then there is this asshat who has said he's going to "out" one of Foley's victims today at 4 P.M. Yesterday, the quite insane and demented Katherine Harris tried to insinuate that the Democrats were involved without any proof whatsoever pointing in their direction, and then there is the strange press conference Reynolds held, surrounded by kids, wherein he threw Hastert under the bus o' blame.

I cringed when I read about the utterly embarassing I'm-just-a-poor-alcoholic/I-was-abused-by-a-Catholic-Priest ruse that Foley's dimwitted attorney (or Foley) came up with. Apparently, if you were abused as a child and have a drinking problem, you are no longer responsible for your actions. If only that were the case in real life, right?

The party of "Family Values" (which should really be the party of "no personal responsibility")isn't fooling the public anymore with its baseless self-righteous, holier-than-thou message. It's corrupt, it's scrambling to save face, and it's failing miserably.

Of course, this is only the tip of the iceberg. Foley adamantly claims he's never had physical contact with any pages and I seriously doubt that's the case. You don't just email for years without any payoff. In any case, that's my prediction.

HA! Karena and I so frequently do nearly identical posts all the time too. It is just proof that great minds think alike!
There is so much to be said about this disgusting debacle that words cannot do my disgust justice. The GOP is desperately trying to blame this on the Dems, yet Brian Ross of ABC has said: I will not divulge my sources, but they were absolutely Republicans, not Democrats. Gee... that wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that the Repuke leadership took bribe money from Foley to keep quiet about this for yrs AND that the only Dem who SHOULD have been told about this (Rep. Dale Kildee of Mich) was deliberately kept in the dark about it, now would it? God these freaks make me sick on a daily basis.
Oh yeah... Keith was absent from Countdown last night b/c he was taping his appearance on Letterman yesterday.

Helen Wheels Wednesday, October 04, 2006 12:54:00 PM

Well, I guess they have to do something to TRY to save face. Of course, it's failing miserably. Their spin can only go so far before someone (Keith?!?) calls bullshit. Or maybe "bushit". Har.

Go see Agitprop today too... he also did a rundown, but of course he frames it in such a fun way you'll be cracking up.

It is galling that they try to blame everyting on Clinton and/or the Dems in general. It's sort of like the weasely employee who blames his own incompetence on the guy who just resigned. Happened a lot when I was in the corporate world.

Well, it worked for Mel Gibson, dinnit? Oh, not so much.

DivaJood, good 'un! Yeah, it didn't work for Mel too well, did it?

Har.

I just wish that show Dateline had busted him on TV!!! That would have been HILARIOUS!!!!
Those pedos didn't actually "do the deed" either, but they still went to JAIL!!!
I think it is obvious that Foley had met with the boy..wanted to meet with the boy...set up meetings with the boy and wanted to ply him with alcohol!!!!

The New Republican Sentence Inhancers for October:
I don't remember that.....
I was drunk when.....
It was Clinton's fault......
I'm checking into rehab for....
I can't comment on a pending investigation......

I guess they can start shredding those Condi 2008 bumper stickers!!!

BTW, where the hell is Cheney??
I haven't seen fat bastard in a long time.

Helen Wheels Wednesday, October 04, 2006 2:04:00 PM

Ha ha! "Fat Bastard" - well you know, Shelly, they usually DO trot out Cheney (get him out of the fridge?) whenever they want a diversion after a huge scandal. Ol Blasty McBirdshot should pump lead into another old pal's face to change the headlines, eh?

Yes it would have been wonderful had Dateline caught Foley. Can you imagine?!?

I'm still reeling over the rightie buzz all over the place trying to blame the democrats! It's truly amazing and hilarious!

Desperate people, the GOP. They made their scummy beds but now they don't want to lie in them. Too bad, corrupt creeps! Time to pay the piper!

Blogenfreude Wednesday, October 04, 2006 2:53:00 PM

Bring me the head of Speaker Hastert!

Helen Wheels Wednesday, October 04, 2006 3:33:00 PM

He sure does, Lola: IT's HUGE!! have you seen it? I doubt it would fit in a normal-sized room.

Shelly Thursday, October 05, 2006 8:04:00 AM

Maybe Cheney should have checked into Rehab after shooting his huntin' buddy.
Did you hear that Gannon is going to be on Randi Rhodes???
I nearly had to change my pants!!!!
LOL
She is going to eat him for lunch....
Go to my bloggy and see what Ann Coulter had to say about the Foley thing. I totally ripped it from jeffgannon.com . She of course says now the Democrats are ANTI-GAY!!! I knew that was coming.
I knew the GOP would spin this into a anti-gay thing....

Can't you just see Santorum picking up on this and trying to spin his spun-out-of-control losing senate race to Casey in PA??

New TV spot for Rick Santorum:
"...see, the republicans have GAY representatives...where are the democrats gays?? See, the GOP is the party who is gay friendly!!! Republicans love gay people...Now, throw me a rainbow bumpersticker and put on some Donna Summer, I feel like spankin' it Foley style!!!
I'm Rick Santorum, and I totally approve of this fabulous ass, oops..i mean ADD!!! TEE HEE HEE"

Rick Santorum. Fighting for the rights of closeted gays in PA.
*paid for by Log Cabin Republicans for Rick Santorum."

teehee...

Helen Wheels Thursday, October 05, 2006 9:19:00 AM

Shelly!! You nearly made me spew coffee! God girl, you are a scream. I love your "commercial". What I find just absolutely unbelievable is that the righties are trying to say Dems are anti-gay and at the same time revile gays because gay=pedophile. How can they have it both ways?? I'm going to find the study that reports that the majority of pedophiles are NOT gay and post it everywhere I can. Stupid righties.

I gotta listen to Randi Rhodes grill Gannon the ho. LOL indeed - that's all I've been doing this week, watching the stupid GOP suckers scramble and spin. GAWD I can't remember when the blogosphere has been this much fun.

About "Just Ain't Right"

Starting in 2005 as a means to rant about things that piss me off, it quickly turned more political than anything else. If I can encourage even one person to start paying attention (who already isn't) then it will have not been in vain.
